Skills Groups

Why Group Skills?

There is something very powerful, affirming, and healing about being in a safe space with others who understand your struggle and empathize with your challenges. This is what our groups offer to the individuals we work with. We extend this same group healing space for friends, family, graduates of our DBT programs, and those seeking stress reduction through mindfulness. It’s important to note that while we foster healing and growth through our skills groups, these classes should not be confused with “group therapy.” You do not need a diagnosis of Borderline Personality Disorder to participate in our skills groups. DBT is available to anyone regardless of diagnosis.


Comprehensive DBT 24 Week Skills Group

Our DBT Skills Group Classes work in combination with weekly individual therapy sessions and in the moment phone coaching for skills use. This blended approach empowers individuals to integrate skills through a supportive process. This program teaches the four modules of DBT: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. This program is for ages 18+.

DBT-A Multi Family Skills Group (Adolescents)

For families looking to register their Adolescent (Ages 15-17) in DBT therapy, they must also enroll in the DBT-A Multi Family Skills Class. This class works in combination with weekly therapy sessions and phone coaching for in the moment guidance on skills use. This program teaches the four modules of DBT: Mindfulness, Distress Tolerance, Emotion Regulation, & Interpersonal Effectiveness. It is mandatory that the parent(s) attend and participate in the class as well as be available to meet individually if it is deemed effective for their adolescent’s progress in treatment.

DBT Mastery Group

The DBT Mastery Group is an open-ended group designed to provide weekly opportunities for group members to review and practice learned DBT skills. This is an option for people who have already completed a DBT skills class and are looking to enhance their skill use. The goal is to see that Skills assist building and maintaining a ‘Life Worth Living.’

Family & Friends Group

Next Start Date: March 1, 2023 (6 Week Program – Wednesdays from 6pm – 8pm)

Recovery is a journey when you love someone who is struggling with intense emotion dysregulation.

We offer group support that enables friends and family to become skillful together, facilitating communication, validation, support, and healing.

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)

Next Start Date: March 7, 2023 (Thursdays from 6-8:30pm; FREE Orientation Feb 21, 2023; Includes all-day silent retreat on Sat April 15th, 2023)

The relationship that many of us have with stress can be damaging both mentally and physically. Our eight-week Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) classes can dramatically change this relationship. This research-proven approach helps individuals learn to be more present, make calmer, wiser decisions, and experience fewer negative emotions in reaction to stress.

MBSR is considered the gold standard in mindfulness training and can only be led by certified MBSR instructors. We have on staff a fully-certified MBSR educator, ensuring that our clients receive empirically-supported treatment and quality assurance.

 

 

 

 

16 Week DBT-Informed Skills Course

Start Date: TBD from 6pm – 8pm

The 16 Week DBT-Informed Skills Course is an online series designed to teach DBT skills to any person who might find them beneficial. It is offered by fully trained, experienced DBT therapists receiving supervision from a DBT-certified clinician. This course is a virtual course and will be delivered via Microsoft Teams. As this class is being offered as a ‘stand-alone component’, it is important that it is understood that this skills class alone is not considered “therapy” and cannot replace a full DBT program or being described as “having had DBT”. The course is open to persons attending therapy with us or elsewhere in the community, or persons who are not currently in therapy.

Validation Workshop

Validation is a key communication strategy that we can use to help others feel supported, comforted, and listened to. We can help others regulate their emotions when we offer them validation. Validation is a skill that generally does not come naturally, and it is is a skill that can be acquired. It takes education and practice to become skilled in validation.

Inner Solutions™ invites you to attend a 2.5 hour Virtual Workshop on Validation Facilitated by Jessica Heil, R Psych, DBT-LBC Certified Clinician™.

The next workshop is on Thursday March 9th from 6:00pm – 8:30pm

Cost is $299 for the first attendee, and a discounted rate of $100 for a second attendee.

 The fee is waived for any parents who have/are attending the DBT-A Skills Class
